So much to do!

Well, first of all, my most kickin-est ass little brother in the whole world will be here tomorrow. This kid is my FAVORITE person. He's funny, he's game for anything, and did I mention he's 16. :) I was 13 the day he was born, and when he was a baby, I was his second mom. Seriously, he called me Mommy and he called my Mom, Mama. He used to climb into my bed in the middle of the night and stick his stinky little feet in my face, and ask me to read him a story or sing him a song. We were pretty inseparable for a lot of years. He's just the sweetest coolest kid, and he's gonna be hanging with us in D-town for 10 days. I've got all kinds of stuff planned, and I'm super excited just to have him around. I'll have someone to play cards with, and to stuff full of food, and Tim will have a Wii buddy!

Anyway, this is for Jackson: The "AC/DC" Hokey Pokey!

This is for Greeblemonkey, in honor of her Truthiness post. We're supposed to post a picture of ourselves first thing in the morning. Thank god they didn't say how BIG the photo had to be. Click on this photo with extreme caution.

And last but not least, I'd like to thank all my friends and family for the support they've shown us in the past couple of days. It's hard for us to imagine our lives without all of our wonderful friendships here in Denver, but it's been great knowing that you all are behind us during this transition. It is scary and in a lot of ways, one of the bravest things I've ever done. I'm a Liberal Vegetarian Agnostic, moving to a red state. Ack! Anyway, thank you all and we look forward to all the good times we're gonna have with everyone this summer.

Holiday Retrospect

Well, we finally made it back home. It was a wonderful vacation, chock full of adventures. I was going to write a complete blow by blow, but I have a sneaking suspicion that no one ever read those kinds of posts, so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

I will say that the travel portions of this trip were insane. Our connecting flight from Seattle to Portland on our way out, was canceled, so my parents piled into the VW van with my best friend Echo and came up to rescue us. It was a long strange trip that lasted most of the night. It involved giddy early morning conversations, a pit stop for 3 am breakfast at Denny's and many roadside gas station bathroom reviews.

We spent one day in Salem at my parents house with Echo. (Which involved, feeding chickens, cutting down and decorating a Christmas tree, and a heaping pile of my Dad's famous tacos.) Then Tim, Jackson, Echo and I all packed up and headed down to the coast in the van with Echo's brother Jasper and his two dogs in tow. We spent a rainy day or two in town and after some great quality time with Echo's mother Karim (who was pretty much my second Mom.) Then we jumped in the van and drove back up to Falls City and spent the remaining time with my parents and siblings. Our Christmas eve talent show was a big hit and it was a wonderful time shared with my family.

Our flight back was slightly delayed and once we finally landed, it was a good two and half hours before we could get our bags and actually leave the airport. What a nightmare! Anyway, it's great to be home in our own beds with our kitties. :)
