T-day and beyond

Megan, Gillian, and Me
Originally uploaded by villanovababy.

Well, my holiday was lovely. I spent it with lots of wonderful new friends and boy was it nice to not have to cook! I mean, under normal circumstances I would be happy too, but the whole holiday install thing plum wore me out.
I also came down with an infection last week and have been holed up in my house trying to feel better for the past three days. I'm starting to feel normal again today so I think I'll head out to do some Christmas shopping. Tim and I are almost done with our Holiday album, so keep an eye out for our newly updated holiday website...

p.s. I had to fly out to Oregon the night before last to wrap up more work stuff. I spent all of yesterday in the rain and flew home last night at midnight. I don't know about you, but I'm thankful to be home today and spending my dinner with wonderful new friends! More to come... Posted by Picasa

It was the best of times...

I had a whole big post about this flipping awful trip and then flikr cracked out on me and I lost it. :(

Dang...

okay well, the summary was that it was awful in parts and good in parts. But mostly awful and wet. We weathered some pretty horrific conditions as far as weather. It was worse than anything the AF ever threw at me and that is REALLY saying something. I'm SOOOOOOO tired and physically worn down. I want to write about it, but I'm just going to have to wait until tomorrow.

Just click on the photo and check out some of the pictures I took. I didn't take any on the worst day, but there is a lovely picture of me in there after the worst day. My toes were so wet that I literally felt like I had gone for a swim in my clothing. It was so freaking miserable.... Anyway, I'm trying to recover right now, so nighty night. More to come later.

I'm leaving for Portland on Sunday for my first install of the year. It also happens to be our biggest client. I'm not stressed.... I'M HELLA STRESSED!!!!!! I'm sorry, but I won't be blogging probably while I'm gone, but I'll be sure to take lots of pictures so you can see me slopping around in the pouring down rain (it will be raining the WHOLE time we are there) while trying to install giant Christmas trees.

wish me luck...

Best of the Worst

Now that Halloween is over, and since I work in the Christmas business, The holiday season is always in the forefront of my mind. Like I was telling Tim, while taking down our Halloween decorations to make room for our Christmas decorations, there really are a lot of wonderful holiday albums out there. There are also a lot of REALLY bad ones...anything by Jessica Simpson and N'Sync come to mind.

But those are only bad because the artists are crappy... What I am really interested in are the ones that are soooooo bad, that they take on a mythical life of their own fraught with campiness and sappiness. So, tell me your nominations for the BEST of the Worst.

I nominate "Once Upon A Christmas..." by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. As a kid I watched their Christmas special on television and came to picture Mrs. Claus as a buxom woman with extrordinarily large hair and Santa as a tipsy clown who spent most of the time chasing Mrs. Claus around in his bright red long underwear. Ahhh..... memories. My favorite song is "Christmas to Remember". It's about to sad people who come together at some ski lodge and have sex in front of a fire place and then drink hot cocoa. At least I think that's what it's about....

(listen to samples of this awesomely bad album here.)

London, Paris, & Amsterdam

Go Ahead Tours
Tim and I have been researching and we think this one might be the best trip for us. We'd really love to go to Italy, but we were thinking maybe we should do a trip later that is Italy, Greece and the Mediterranean.

The prices for the Go Ahead people are pretty reasonable and it includes meals and the transatlantic flight! I'm still not sure if the tour thing is going to be too hectic for us to enjoy Europe, but 11 days is pretty much the top end of time we can take off from work so this might work out pretty perfectly...

The Time Has Come...

Tim and I have been talking about Europe for AGES. We meant to go and then other stuff came up.... other stuff like parties, eating at expensive resturants, other vacations, shopping, parties, and well...parties. We really want to do a trip to Europe before the baby thing happens, so we are trying to find a trip that we want to take.

We looked in to Intrepid Travel, but I'm not sure it's quite what we're looking for. We want to see all the amazing stuff, but we also want it to be a fun vacation. I'm not sure if rushing Tim through train stations just so we can hit every stop is exactly romantic. Also, we really would like to have a hotel room to ourselves. It doesn't have to be fancy.... I'm perfectly fine with the European version of Motel 6. As long as there aren't any rats, roaches or other vermin, we'll probably be fine. I just don't want to be sharing a bunk bed and crammed into a tiny room with 10 strangers.

That being said, my priorities are Paris, Nice, Rome and Venice. Tim's priority is Amsterdam. ;) So, if any of my well traveled amigos out there have advice for how we should get started or any general words of wisdom, I'd appreciate it. Oh yeah... we really want to try to keep the trip under 5k...is that unreasonable?
