Love is not Love

Tim turned 28 yesterday. I bought him a couple good presents, (the LOTR Extended DVD Box Set, and the Creative Zen Touch Mp3 player). But I think the part he enjoyed most, (besides my spanky rendition of the Pink Panther Song last night) was the treasure hunt that I planned for him. I wrote out 8 riddles about locations in our house. (E.g. A landing pad for 6 colored torpedoes = our magnetic dart board) and in each of those spots there was a slip of paper with the next clue on it…But when he had all 8 clues, they had to be flipped over and there were words of a sonnet on the back that had to be arranged into proper order.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
~William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616)

The words had letters that were in bold and those letters were an anagram for “Chimney”. The Chimney is where I hid the final treasure map. ( and I got really dirty trying to hide it in there! )
The treasure map lead him downstairs to a crawl space beneath our dining room with a dirt floor, where I had placed a leather and wood treasure chest (go Hobby Lobby!) and put the LOTR box set inside.

Anyway, I gave him a note and the first clue right before I left work. He said that he couldn’t go back to sleep after that because he kept on thinking about the clue I had given him, so he got up and searched pretty much all morning… around 10:30 or so he called me to tell me he’d gotten into the crawl space and fetched out the treasure chest. He was so excited about the gift, but I think he was really proud of himself for figuring it all out. :o) So then later, I gave him his MP3 player and he told me I was the best wife ever. I don’t mean to brag, but I do kick ass in the wife department. :o)

So, we got ready around 6 and went out to dinner. We had planned on going to the Go Fish Grille again, they are now closed. Not sure if they just went bankrupt or what, but we had our hearts set on seafood, so we went to McCormicks. (it’s a chain I know…) It was so good though! Great service, AWESOME food and a parking garage across the street. I love it when that happens, usually because I’m wearing shoes that are not made for walking. Anyway, it was a great day…

Today I took the day off today so I could sleep in a little and clean our house for Tim’s birthday party on Saturday. My muscles are so sore, but I’m still planning on going Rock Climbing with Charleigh tonight. I am so going to need to pick up some sugar-free redbull. :o)

You have ended up quoting my favorite of all of Shakespeare's sonnets. Adam loved to give gifts, and of them is a ring engraved inside with the words "it is an ever fixed mark", because only we two knew it's meaning between us.

Your husband is blessed with such a loving and considerate wife, and I am so happy for you that you sustain this sort of relationship, because it is very, very rare.

Now I'm all misty.
