Once upon a weekend...

So, howdy everybody! Monday has arrived and it is a doozy. Thank god we have Friday off. Anyway, my weekend was nuts, but before I get into that, can I just tell you about my Monday?

Okay, so this morning I had to go to the DMV to get a new drivers license with my married name and to renew the registration on my car. YUK! But I had planned ahead and got together everything I needed, filled out the proper paper work etc. So I got up early today and went to the DMV. I thought if I got there early enough I wouldn't have to wait in line very long. By the time I got there around 7:45, the line was already around the corner. When I finally got up to the number counter, the lady working the desk told met hat they don't do registration there, only drivers licenses. *dammit*

I waited in line for another 40 minutes and then got my temp drivers license. Then I headed off to the other aurora DMV office where they do registration renewals. Then I waited in line for another 20 minutes, got up to the counter and the lady tells me that for some reason I am registered to vote in Colorado so I can't get my military tax exemption and then she asks me for $300.00. So, I told her that I voted in Oregon last year and that I NEVER registered in Colorado. Then she goes and talks to her boss for about 20 minutes. When she gets back she tells me I have to go to the main Denver office to get "un-registered" to vote in Colorado before I can get my tax exemption.

So I go to the office, which by the way is all the way up by I-70. I finally find the building. Wait in line for another 45 minutes. Finally I get up to the desk and I explain to the lady my problem. And she says, (wait for it..........) " Oh, we don't do that here." I'm pretty sure at that point I looked like I was going to cry. So then she told me that if I promised to go to the office downtown and get un-registered, she would renew my registration for me. *sigh* So she did, and I thanked her profusely. Geees, that dang DMV. I hate that place. Random sidebar. At the third office I went to, they had a vending machine in the lobby for nuts and bolts. There was a man wearing pink shoes, and I had a nice conversation with a Denver Policeman. He was standing in line next to me. Turns out he was in the Air Force for twenty years, so we talked shop for a bit and then we discussed old cars and ex-wives. So a shout out to Mr.. Plummer...

The rest of my weekend was pretty chill. On Friday night Tim and I were supposed to go out with our friend Phil who is in town, but he ended up bar backing at the Candlelight, so instead we went to Forest Room 5 and had kickass appetizers. We met some new friends, Brandon and Juliana who invited us to their house for Super Bowl Sunday. We're not really football people, but they seem really nice and fun, so we might go...

Saturday morning I got Tim to go to the gym with me. It was the first time he'd ever been to a gym in his adult life, so I was pretty proud that I got him to go. But I think he had a pretty good time, and he wasn't too sore yesterday. Maybe I'll get him to go again. Since we were on base we went and did a commissary run and got a months worth of groceries. That night Dane came over and we all jammed out and ate pizza. Basically just had some QT with our friend.

Sunday we did a little shopping for the house, but basically we just sat around and cuddled. It was a very nice weekend all in all....

After spending 3-1/2 hours enduring the long lines, surly clerks and insane regulations at the Department of Motor Vehicles, a guy stopped at a toy store to pick up a gift for his son. He selected a baseball bat and took it to the cash register.

"Cash or charge?" the clerk asked.

"Cash," he snapped.

He then apologized for his rudeness, telling the clerk that he had spent all afternoon at the motor-vehicle bureau.

"Shall I giftwrap the bat?" the clerk asked sweetly. "Or are you going back there?"
